Narative Description of Project
Citizen-Led Mahakali/Sharda River Health Report Using water quality parameters for TROSA II
The major objective of the assignment is to develop a Citizen-Led Mahakali/Sharda River Health Report, which will serve as a consolidated, evidence-based document on the status of the river system in close coordination with Oxfam Nepal, International Union for conservation of Nature (IUCN), Grameen Development Services, India (GDS), Centre for Education Development Action and Research India (CEDAR), National Environment & Equity Development Society, Nepal (NEEDS), Rural Women’s Development and Unity Centre (RUWDUC) Nepal and Community Rural Development Society Nepal (CRDS)
The specific results are;
• To analyze citizen science water quality data and interpret results for Mahakali/Sharda Basin.
• To integrate secondary data (land cover, biodiversity, human health, policies, governance) for a holistic river health analysis.
• To prepare GIS-based maps and visualizations to communicate findings effectively.
• To validate and enrich findings through consultations with stakeholders, including women and marginalized groups.
• To produce an evidence-based river health report with actionable recommendations for basin-wide cooperation and policy engagement.
